OPTIMATE 5 BATTERY CHARGER

Updated: Apr 22, 2021

With most bikers having their bikes locked away in the garage during the lockdown it's well worth getting yourself a decent battery charger. Does your bike have an alarm or tracker fitted? You might find that when you try to start it after it's been sitting up a long time in the garage the battery is flat. Maybe you have never thought about putting the bike on a "trickle charger" to keep the battery in the best condition possible. A new battery charger could be a must when you try and start your bike up after a period of not riding it.

The new OptiMate 5 Select will save, charge and maintain all 6V and 12V lead-acid batteries from bikes to vans, and everything else for that matter.

HOW DO I USE A MOTORCYCLE BATTERY CHARGER?

Well the Optimate is automatic – simply connect to the battery, select the voltage and it will start diagnosing, recovering, charging, checking and maintaining. The current is constantly monitored to eliminate under or over charging, and there is built-in spark suppression and automatic shutdown if short-circuited or the battery is disconnected.

The casing is IP54 waterproof rated and has been tested for use at temperatures down to -40°C, so can be used outside. It comes with two sets of leads, one with clamps for bench charging, the other with an in-line protection fuse and eyelet terminals for permanent connection to the battery. Optional accessories include leads to charge via the DIN socket, 1.8m and 4.6m extension leads and weatherproof sockets to provide a 12V supply for on-board devices.

The OptiMate 5 Select has a three-year warranty and an SRP of £89.99
